Big Boats out of Sydney are currently pimping themselves on eBay giving eager bidders a chance for the “UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY” of sailing on boats such as Wild Oats XI, Ichi Ban, Skandia and Andrew Short Marina Brindabella.
Sure it’s for a good cause, but would you bid on eBay to sail one of these yachts?
They are [...]

Graham Bauer’s first hand experience…
I was helping deliver a standard plastic 39 from Brisbane to Mackay some weeks back and with the wind on the nose we were motor sailing through the night under flat, close-hauled main on a centered traveler. You know the drill. No headsail, 18-20-or-so degrees off the breeze, 2500 rpm and [...]

The Boss is currently lying fith overall, Im lying on my couch currently first overall but thatcould change too. I mean whats the script? how much do these big buses cost? totally loaded with IT technology and theres only two of them on the boat, so no big dinners to make or big breakfasts to make either, no loads of washing needed done. I mean you think they would have time to send us a video of the sailing for fuck sake. Lazy Bastards, get something sent into info@marineblast.com and make an effort.

Early Sunday morning, the leaders of the Barcelona World Race, entered the dreaded doldrums zone, an area characterised by light, fluky winds, thunderstorm and rain cells and confused, lumpy seas. Not surprisingly, the first placed boat in the fleet, Paprec-Virbac 2 was the first to slow down, and there has been a general compression of the fleet. (more…)
