RS:X Youth World Championships 2007 – 114 Competitors From 16 Countries For Inaugural Event

114 competitors from 16 countries and three continents have entered the first RS:X Youth World Championship in Sopot, Poland. The event is supported by the RS:X Under 21 Class Championship. Sixty-five youth boys, divided into two groups, will do battle with Pierre LE COQ (FRA), who has just returned from winning the gold medal at the 2007 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

La Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro 2007 – 50 Figaro Sailors At The Start Of 38th Edition

La Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro, the undisputed star event of the Figaro Bénéteau circuit, starts today with an incredible line up of some of world’s leading single-handed sailors. The first of four races that make up the month long event will start off Caen and head for Crosshaven in Ireland for the first race.

Tour De France A La Voile 2007 – Victory For Toulon Provence Méditerranée – COYCHyères

After one month of racing, Toulon Provence Méditerranée – COYCHyères of Fabien HENRY (FRA) won the 2007 Tour de France a la Voile. Teva PLICHART’s (FRA) Tahiti et ses Iles came second in the overall ranking before last year’s winner, Ile de France of Victor LANIER and Nicolas PAUCHET (FRA).

Optimist World Championship 2007 – Greece Win Optimist Team Racing Worlds

Greece won the 2007 Optimist Team Racing World Championship title in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. The event at the Optimist Worlds, held in ideal 12-15 knot winds and completed within six hours, was full of surprises.

470 Junior World Championship 2007 – Gold For Croatia

Sime FANTELA and Igor MARENIC (CRO) won the 2007 Junior 470 World Cham[pionship title in Bourgas, Bulgaria. The Croatians beat off the challenge of Georgios VASILAS and Evangelos MITAKIS (GRE) to take the title, whilst in 23rd overall, Anthi ECONOMOU and Olga TSIGARIDI (GRE) where the top women finishers.

OK Dinghy World Championship 2007 – CRAIG Takes Third OK World Title In Style

In Leba, Poland, Nick CRAIG (GBR) won his third consecutive OK Dinghy World Championship after scoring a second and a first in extreme conditions that tested all the sailors to the limit.

Rio 2007 Pan American Games – Hosts Lead The Way

Brazil finished top of the pile at the XV Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, with the hosts picking up three gold, two silver and two bronze medals from the nine sailing events on Guanabara Bay. The USA finished second on the medal table, with two golds, a silver and a bronze.

Laser Radial European Championship and Laser Radial Men’s World Championship 2007 – VAN ACKER Leads

Strong winds and rain were expected for the first race day of the ISAF Grade 1 Laser Radial Europeans and the Laser Radial Men’s Worlds in Scheveningen, Netherlands. Defending European Champion Evi VAN ACKER (BEL) had a great start and leads after two races.
